Yes, hot air ballooning in Cappadocia is strictly regulated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM). All pilots are professionally licensed, and balloons undergo regular technical inspections. Flights are cancelled for safety reasons if weather conditions are not suitable.
Balloon launches are regulated by Turkey's Civil Aviation Authority. On rare mornings with strong winds or low visibility, flights pause. We rebook guests to the next available slot or arrange alternative sunrise experiences the same day. We will give you a refund if you cannot fly during your stay due to cancellations. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities.
A standard balloon flight lasts approximately 60 minutes in the air. However, including hotel pickup, light breakfast, pre-flight preparations, celebration after landing, and drop-off, the total experience takes around 3-4 hours.
Since flights take place at sunrise, pickup times vary by season. In summer, pickup is between 04:00-05:00, and in winter, between 06:00-07:00. The exact time will be shared with you the day before your flight.
Balloon basket sizes vary. Standard hot air balloons in Cappadocia typically carry 28 passengers plus the pilot. For a more intimate experience, we offer options with smaller baskets such as comfort or deluxe flights accommodating 16 to 20 guests. Private charters for couples or small groups are also available upon request.
All balloon flights and guided tours include chauffeured transfers from Goreme, Uchisar, Urgup, Avanos, Ortahisar, and surrounding cave hotels. We confirm exact timing via WhatsApp the evening prior.
